I realized I never shared this nonfiction short work on my blogs about the experience of losing my first love my daughter. Please go to this link:¬†Always In My Heart. In order to read my story and see how I decided not to let this loss define how I lived my life. ¬†This may be especially helpful to those dealing with a miscarriage right now in their lives, or for anyone who ever has felt the pain of losing a child. ¬†I urge you to read this short work to find some semblance of solace. Know that your rainbow exists, it’s just a little further down your life’s path than you expected.

Wishing you happiness!

A perfect circle or “halo” rainbow with sun and rays in the dead center to enhance it!

Being one extremely interested in rainbows and their meanings, I had read some time ago that rainbow arcs we usually see in the sky are actually part of a rainbow.  A rainbow is actually a circle! Well this was a new one on me! Then yesterday as I photographed the sun around noonish, I noticed rainbow colors slightly above the sun’s extended rays.  I stepped back to attempt to capture it and that’s when I realized I was staring at a humongous circle rainbow with the sun dead in the center of it! I kept backing up trying to captured this rare phenomenon, for me at least it was, all the while staring awe- struck  at the sheer size of it! It was directly over my house and backyard!

image

This shows the sheer size of the halo rainbow before I started backing up to capture it all!

Later I went in to review my photos and was thrilled to have captured this magical work of nature fully in several photos.  Being the type of person who has to know the meaning/symbolism behind occurrences, I looked up circle rainbows. I loved the name “halo” rainbow because it seems to symbolize angels and to me this halo rainbow symbolized the uniting of all the many people my families have lost coming together as one to tell me they are okay up there!  It made my heart and soul feel warm and happy to make this connection.

image

I tried to capture different angles of the sun in the halo rainbow.

Now of course I know that these rare rainbows are created from ice crystals being hit by sunlight, but as I go out several times a day every day to photograph the natural world around me, why haven’t I seen one sooner? Why was it that when I was feeling extremely low in my life and had beseechingly been asking for a rainbow the day prior that all of a sudden out of the blue, I get to witness the most amazing type of rainbow imaginable? Someone up there knew I was in need of a special sign.  This rainbow was it.  I spent the rest of the day floating on air feeling so much better about life!  I see this rainbow as a magnificent gift from above! Think what you will about its sudden appearance, but for me it came at a time I needed it the most!

See the rainbow colors running along the top of this circle rainbow?

My BFF For Life!

I am a firm believe that we don’t just encounter people in our life randomly, they are sent to us for a purpose. This is truly the case for my best friend Jaime and myself. We met on the first day of kindergarten when we were five years old, and have been inseparable ever since! (I won’t say how long we’ve been BFF’s to protect our ageless beauty ;), but trust me its been awhile!) She is the most generous, loving, giving, person I have ever met! She doesn’t think twice about helping out another person and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it! Over the years, our friendship has grown and blossomed making her feel more like the sister I never had, as opposed to just a friend. We have been there for each other for the good times and bad. Weddings, funerals, birthdays, holidays, you name it! The support she has shown me over the years only continues to grow. Even though we live in different states, whenever we get together, we pick up right where we left off! I feel she epitomizes the qualities of a true friend, someone who isn’t there only for the good moments in life, but for the not so good ones too! We have seen each other at our worst times and she always knows just what to say to make me feel better. I hope I do the same for her as well! She has a heart of gold, and this can be seen in how she treats her students and her pets, as well as in her treatment of other individuals. Though we have been friends for many many years, we have never once been in a fight! Honestly! We just have fun together and are there cheering each other on through life’s little and big achievements! I love her like a sister and she is truly the best friend a girl could ask for! She’s a lover of rainbows, dragonflies, and butterflies just like me. She is a dreamer, creative (you should see her paint Tweety Bird on her own nails!), and I don’t think I could ever say enough to describe the truly magnificent individual that she embodies! If you have a friend that you can always count on, that supports you, and accepts you for the person you are no matter what happens in life, treasure that person and that friendship. This is a unique, wonderful gift to find in life. If you are able to have one true, honest to goodness friend in life, never take that or them for granted! I was given a great gift the day I met my BFF, my sister for life, and I am so thankful to have her in my life!

…..nothing!  No blue line was visible in the tiny result window, waiting triumphantly to make her heart soar, to fill her with euphoric happiness.  With a sinking heart, she laid her head on the cold, cool sink counter.  She had been  sure this time she would see that evasive blue line appear, but again its lack of appearance taunted her! Turning her head forlornly towards the test stick laying still beside her, she angrily picked it up to hurl it into the trashcan.  Eager to be rid of the evidence of yet another failed attempt.  As her hand  reached for the mocking, reminder of her inability to achieve a positive result, she gasped in shock!  There before her strikingly bright, clear as the blue sky itself, shown a bold, discernible, solid, blue line!  It had been only seconds since checking the test, which had caused her such heartache, yet there was the result she had yearned to see for years! An honest to goodness  positive result!
     Tears of joy sprang from her eyes catching her unaware.  Her hands shook, as she cautiously carried her miraculous outcome, gripped gingerly in her hand, to show her husband. Walking slowly, feeling with every step she took, the line might disappear at any moment.  In complete disbelief that  this was really happening.  With sweaty, quivering hands she handed the precious test stick to her husband.  Barely capable of speech, she was only able to utter four words to him;
     “I think I’m pregnant!”
Spent with emotional exhaustion, she collapsed into his arms, engulfed by his embrace, dissolving into sobs of joy.  Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, shock over finally registering a positive result, planning how she’d share their news, dreaming of future holidays together, names for their baby, among various other idealistic thoughts experienced by a first-time mother. Her heart was light, she felt as if she was walking on air!
The next 18 weeks flew by quickly.  She documented each week with photographs, she and her husband took a last vacation, a babymoon, if you will, to enjoy their last summer before the baby arrived.  She went a bit overboard in the baby shopping department, buying anything and everything for their future bundle of joy.  She experienced the joy of seeing her baby wiggling around inside of her on ultrasounds, and heard its heartbeat strong, and true for the first time.  She was in a wonderful bubble of euphoria, eventually sharing at 13 weeks, their happy news with anyone and everyone!
Then the unthinkable happened at 18 1/2 weeks.  There was blood, and she knew what that meant.  A trip to the hospital confirmed her suspicions, her baby had stopped growing.  Her weeks of happiness, the future she had planned for her child was ended, all in a matter of seconds.  She felt robbed of her child, of her dreams for it.
Days turned to weeks, a hollow emptiness consumed her, where her baby had once been.  Once happy and complete, she now felt lost, bereft of feeling.  Seeking comfort through her writing, she wrote her thoughts and feelings about her lost child.  This allowed her to find momentary reprieve from the sadness, her thoughts  transferred from her mind to the page.  Using writing as her security blanket to overcome this tragedy, slowly she began to heal.  She emerged a changed, person, but enduring an experience such as this changes anyone.  Through  her creative outlet of writing, she  further explored her other artistic gifts that had laid dormant through the years.  She left the world of professional workers focusing solely on her writing and photography, creating a writing company to commemorate her lost child, who through her death, helped her discover a new life!

She’s always been there for you since the moment you were born.¬† Growing up she was the one who kissed all your boo boos, placed special inspirational notes in your lunchbox, and made you feel like you were the world to her.¬† She attended special events throughout your life, was your biggest fan and source of encouragement as a child,¬† yet allowed you to experience all of ¬†life’s offerings, and to learn from your mistakes.¬† She was there to inspire you to dream, to achieve,¬† to reach for that brass ring in life!¬† She offered comfort to your wounded young soul, when the world didn’t realize how unique and special you were.¬† Growing up, you wanted to be just like her, trying on her high heels, and acting grown up.¬† She was your idol at five years old.

In your teenage years your mom’s role became that of an advisor for your young, careless mind.¬† She gave advice on situations ranging from false friends, to mending broken hearts.¬† She had been there before and imparted her wisdom gained from experience to you.¬† She became a confidante, for a blossoming teenager, struggling to make sense of the world.¬† She supported your choices, allowing you to find your own path in life, celebrating your accomplishments, and offering you a shoulder to lean on when life took an unexpected turn.¬† She was front and center,¬† supporting your various interests, and usually driving you to lessons and practice since you didn’t drive until you were seventeen!¬†ūüôā¬† Her faith in you was unwavering,¬†glowing with pride at the woman you were becoming.

Upon entering adulthood your mom took on yet another role, that of friend.¬† When something occurred in your life, good or bad, she was the first person you called.¬† Every joy, every¬†setback,¬†she took in never judging, only offering a kind ear to listen to your triumphs and troubles.¬† My mom, my friend, is still my hero as a grown woman because she has the ability¬†to still make a grey sky seem blue.¬† She is able to right my world, when things seem bleakest,¬†by uttering only a few worlds of encouragement.¬† While we are separated¬†by miles now, when I pick up the phone to talk to her, I am transported¬†back beside her again.¬† Distance doesn’t¬† dull the connection we have, nor does time apart change how¬†I feel about our relationship!¬† No matter what happens in my life, I know I can always count on her support, love, and guidance to see me through whatever life throws at me!¬† ¬†¬†Looking back on my life, I see how much my mother influenced the person I have become today.¬† Because of her quiet caring, and ability to let me become the person I was meant¬†to be,¬† my life has been my own.¬† The ultimate act of love between a mother and her child is to teach them enough so that they may fly off one day on their own, caring with them the love and lessons imparted to them by their mom.¬† My mom has taught me a lot about life, people, and the world, someday I hope to impart her teachings to future generations!¬† Until then I know she will be here for me when needed, which is why my mom is still my hero today!

Thank you for all your guidance and love mom!:)

The daily prompt today couldn’t be more tailored to my personality.  It says to show colors.  The post written about colors must incorporate every color found in the rainbow.  Well hold onto you hats fellow bloggers, because photographing rainbows and researching their meaning is my specialty!
The rainbow is one of mankinds’ oldest known symbols of hope and eternal life.  This arc of colors is the product of perfect harmony within the vibrant shades. Beginning with a passionate red, then fading seamlessly into each different color until reaching its end in a deep purple. The seven colors of the rainbow mirror the seven chakras found in the human body.  Each color in the rainbow is associated with a different chakra and has its own unique meaning. Whether you choose to believe in the power and the energy produced from the rainbow’s individual colors is your choice.  I personally feel that the magnificence created by the formation of a rainbow is something to take notice of!  It has been said  the violet/purple shade seen in the rainbow can be linked to our crown chakra, and offers spiritual power. The indigo shade is associated with the human mid-brow chakra eliciting third eye intuition.  The blue coloring  is symbolic of the throat chakra, creating inspiration.  Green represents our heart chakra, creating will and feeling.  Yellow links to our solar chakra and thus links to our mind. Orange is attached to the spleen chakra, aiding in digestion and personal sociability.  Finally, that vibrant red topping the rainbow, is connected to the human root chakra, providing us with spirituality, ability to take action, and our vitality for life!  There is more to the 7 colors in the rainbow’s arc than you realized!
I personally feel that the rainbow serves as a link between Earth and sky, uniting us with those loved ones above that have passed on.  When I see a rainbow, they tend to appear at moments in my life when I am in need of personal reassurance, or feeling extremely low.  Therefore, I feel these vibrant colors serve as a symbol from our loved ones passed to reassure us that all will be well, and to continue to persevere in life.  The rainbow appears to serve as a promise that there is still hope to be found even in the toughest of times.  A magnificent gift of nature found in an arc of colors, letting us know our lost loved ones are never far away.  They are always watching over us from above.  The rainbow with its seven glorious colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet/purple, is a visual reminder to be grateful for nature’s beauty, present throughout our world. A beautiful sign to remind us to be thankful for all the things present in our lives! ūüôā

The best idea I ever came up with that gave me an “ah ha!” type of feeling was when I decided to leave the education field and pursue a full-time writing career.  I loved writing stories, poetry, and journaling since I was a child.  I still remember writing stories, drawing the illustrations for my stories, then stapling the pages together to make homemade books as a child.  Writing has always been in my blood, it’s been my safety net during troubled times in life, allowing me to record my true thoughts and feelings about issues that arose.  It has been an outlet to turn to. Helping to release bottled up feelings and providing me with a reprieve from negative thoughts that threatened to poison my mind and block out my positive nature.
Once I set my mind to following my dreams of becoming a full-time writer, I created my writing company Rainbows of Happiness LLC dedicated to a special angel who had been taken too soon from my life.  She is the reason I have been motivated to go for my writing dream, helping me to realize that life can be unexpectedly cut short so we must live in the moment.  She is my rainbow of happiness in life, so there was no question about what my company should be named.
Since the time of my company’s creation this past July, I’ve authored a short story Always In My Heart which was chosen for the featured showcase gallery on awritersgallery.wordpress.com, had two poems published on poetreecreations.org, one to be published in the Spring 2014 edition of The East Coast Literary Review, one poem chosen for the Winter Solstice Initiative, became a regular contributor for Smile magazine creating their cover story and articles, was chosen as featured poet for the featured 4 by MUTT online staff, was interviewed by Idea Creations Press, have an upcoming interview with Book Shelf in Feb 2014, have created my company webpage for Rainbows of Happiness LLC, self-host 4 blogs (3 on writing, poetry, and any writing topics that intrigue me, and 1 photography based blog for sharing tips, advice, and displaying my photography along with photographs sent in by followers), I’ve written articles on various topics including fashion, jewelry, shoes, photography, health, exercise, skin care, and education that have been formatted and used on various websites, blogs, magazines, and ezines,  and most recently I have become owner/moderator of photography community Magnificent Moments Captured Through Film, (I’ve been taking pictures since receiving my first camera at age 8), on Google+ which is expanding in membership faster than I ever imagined!
Who do I owe credit to for my success in writing and photography?  Why to my special angel, my real rainbow of happiness!  Had she not shown me the fragility of life, the fleeting sense of our existence, I wouldn’t have been spurred to work to hard to follow my dreams of writing and photography to fruition.  I am thankful every day for the hand life dealt me, for being able to know my special angel, even briefly, because ever triumph I achieve, every obstacle I face, I know she’s watching, helping me stay strong and urging me onward to fulfill my dreams for the both of us!
