Dawning of New Social Media Networking Circles!!

¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Once there was¬†a time when you turned on your computer and the words, “you’ve got mail!” were a source of excitement, breaking the monotony of the daily grind.¬† Then with the advent of¬†Facebook the new message that set your pulse racing was “you have a friend request.”¬† Didn’t it make¬†you feel good when you received the message on your Facebook profile page,¬†“(insert a friend’s name here) has accepted your friend request?”¬† Be honest, you were one of those social media types that kept track of how many friends you accumulated!¬† We all did it!¬† It made us feel good that others wanted to know what we were thinking, view our pictures, and our posts.¬† Then along comes Twitter hot on Facebook’s heels, and now you could tweet your thoughts in less than 140 characters! Amazing!¬† You were also able to be¬†Twitter buddies with celebrities, famous authors, anyone in the Twittersphere!¬† Your¬†were filled¬†with pride, when you received tweets from famous celebrities¬†and television personalities, and you were able to view their personal photos giving you a more intimate glimpse into the world of the rich and famous!¬† Blogs were next to gain popularity among the public with people writing opinions, promotions, posting pictures of their children and pets doing cute and crazy things.¬† The advent of¬†YouTube only further enhanced the blogging experience since bloggers were able to upload and reshare¬†videos to their sites.¬† Now enter Google+ which is rapidly overtaking the social media world! ¬†Now the message you receive is no longer for friend requests, but states “____has added you to their circles!”¬† Yes Google+ has cornered the market when it comes to categorizing your followers into neat groups called circles!¬† You have the¬†option¬†to share information with specific¬† circles, for instance if you have a writing piece you wish to share you might only reshare¬†it with your circles that include writers, authors, publishers, and freelancers.¬† Since the start of 2014 the increase in¬†creating and sharing circles filled with followers numbering in the hundreds, has started taking the G+ community by storm!¬† I must admit, I’m right in the mix, sharing circles, creating my own circles, and¬†enjoying the opportunity to ¬†meet people from all over the world! ¬†Google+ members seem to¬†have a very¬†positive, mind-set among them. ¬†The members¬†found all over the world refer to each other as friends and¬†exhibit a sense of comradre¬†with fellow members who they may never in their lives get to meet face to face!¬† It’s a wonderful thing to see!¬†These friendly attitudes are refreshing¬† and inspiring, helping to¬†create positive bonds between individuals on this social media platform.¬† I’m not saying there aren’t wonderful people and relationships to be¬†created on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, WordPress blogs, and various other sites, this would be untrue. However, ¬†I’m simply noting that with the creation of¬†the many circles shared¬†among Google+ users, no one seems to be¬†alienated, or¬†judged based on their appearance or job status.¬† Social media overall is a wonderful way to make connections with magnificent, interesting people throughout the world.¬† It allows those who wouldn’t otherwise have access, to network with those higher up individuals in their respective fields.¬† Right now G+¬†appears to be leading the pack when it comes to networking¬†due to the large number of individuals sharing circles consisting of 500+ members or more!¬† ¬†What will be the next¬†way to ¬†connect people via social media?¬† I can hardly wait to find out what the future has in store for us all!

Hello Fellow Bloggers! ūüôā

Happy 2014! I hope your new year has started off well and continues to be filled with wonderful moments!  Since I started the Zero to Hero Challenge with WordPress to create/improve blogs the first day challenge was to introduce myself, but since this blog has been established for awhile I decided to do more of an update.  The past few months leading up to 2014 have been very busy and exciting for me! I am still CEO of Rainbows of Happiness LLC where I write poetry, short stories, children’s literature, fiction, nonfiction, and self-help books, I recently became owner/moderator for the photography community Magnificent Moments Captured Through Film on Google+, was chosen as featured poet for the featured 4 section of MUTT Online by their staff, was selected to have my authored story Always In My Heart in the featured showcase gallery on awritersgallery.wordpress.com, have become a regular contributor for Smile magazine creating their cover story and articles, poetry contributor for The East Coast Literary Review Spring 2014 edition, Winter Solstice Initiative publication, and had three poems published on poetreecreations.org.  I now self-host 4 blogs on various social media platforms (3 on writing, 1 on photography), have created articles on various topics including fashion, photography, education, travel, health, home decor, exercise, skin care, jewelry, and shoes which were formatted and used on websites, blogs, magazines, and ezines.  My followers for this blog are just shy of 1,000 members, and I have formed connections with 1300+ people in the writing industry through LinkedIn! I can’t believe how much things have changed since starting out in Aug!  I have been highlighted as an aspiring author for Idea Creations Press and have an upcoming interview with Book Shelf in Feb 2014.  I received my official copyright certificate from the US Copyright Office and so this year plan to begin publishing my self-help books, and poetry compilations I had been waiting for to receive their copyright clearance.  I also have in the works two completed children’s books for my children’s literature series which I drew the initial character concepts for and am currently working on a book about positive classroom management techniques as well as another self-help book.  I continue to hone my photography skills daily, managing to capture some amazing scenic photographs.  I have become a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Fiction Writers Guild, Poets and Writers Association, Elance Network, Creative Writers Association, Google+ Small Business Owners, Yahoo Small Business Owners, Twitter, Rebel Mouse, Writer’s Beat, MUTT Online, Facebook for Businesses, Blogger, Skyword, Headliner, and Tumblr.  I participate in the weekly photo challenge on Daily Post, and the writing prompts as well, and did NaBloPoMo in November.  Whew! It’s been a busy couple of months! ūüôā

I won’t deny that I’m not the most computer savvy individual when it comes to creating my own webpage.¬† For me it’s a lot of hit or miss experiences.¬† Well today you will notice how all of my blogs are now improved as a result of adding widgets!¬† I stumbled upon the area of how to incorporate widgets simply by mistake!¬† Now I see why some blogs look so put together! I am loving widgets!¬† I don’t have it all down pat just yet and pingbacks¬†still confuse the heck out of me, but at least my blogs look more cohesive now!¬† Anyway I know this isn’t my usual type of post, so I won’t bore you with my new love of computer technology.¬† If anyone is at all capable of understanding how to use pingbacks¬†to respond to prompts from another site I would be eternally grateful as to how to go about pinging a post to another post! ūüôā¬† I promise no more boring posts after this!¬†If you have been stuck¬†on widgets, plugins, and pingbacks too below are some¬†helpful articles. ¬†If¬† you’ve read all the way through this post well then you deserve a reward in the form of some beautiful photography!¬† Hope you enjoyed the capture of the sun bursting through the clouds I took today!
