This week’s photo challenge for the Daily Post asks photographers to show the concept of between whether through objects, people, the actual feeling of feeling torn between decisions etc.  Here are a few examples I decided on for the subject of “between” hope you enjoy!

image

A landscape capture using depth of field to show a tree in the distance between the space in the branches of another tree. The viewer gains more of the surroundings as a result of peering through the space created between the branches.

image

The love shared between mother and daughter.  This bond is eternal and nothing can ever come between them to break this special connection!

image

I discovered this spider web formed between two tree branches.

image

Hidden deep between the blades of grass I uncovered this sparkling water droplet resting on a blade of grass.  It reflected the light beautifully casting a rainbow colored light on the blade upon which it was sitting.  It looked like a jewel resting regally between the vibrant green blades of grass!

image

This was an interesting addition to the Eiffel Tower when I was in France last month. Hanging between the usually open space was an inflatable tennis ball to advertise the tennis tournament the following week.  The inflatable ball was illuminated at night so it could easily be seen from afar.

So there you have it some very different depictions of the challenge of between.  What ways can you think you to depict the theme of between?

A post challenge of three!  I had to share these beautifully designed cupcakes I was lucky enough to eat at a bridal shower this past weekend! They are arranged on a “three” tiered mirrored tray to enhance their appeal!  They were quite delicious each one artfully decorated with care!  A true trifecta of decadence!

Staring eagerly at the small test stick in her hand, she peered anxiously at the result window. The tiles on the bathroom floor felt cold and hard under her.  Ignoring the sensation that permeated through the thin pajama pants she wore, she squinted hopefully again at the small window on the test stick.  The window that would deliver her news of happiness, or disappointment.  All her hopes and dreams were resting on the appearance of a single, solid, blue line.  Time seemed to stop as she waited for three minutes to pass.  Three short moments that were proving to be an eternity in length.  Suddenly, the timer went off cutting into her thoughts, and ending her torturous wait.  Scrambling to her feet to get better light, she looked at the test stick’s tiny window with trembling hands.  There in the result window she saw….

Snow Covered Silence

Blanket of white consumes fields once green,
muffling, suppressing hints of sound.
Untrodden by man, surface pristine,
glistening beauty reflecting sun’s light.
Numerous shining, sparkling flecks,
bright as stars, these crystallized diamonds twinkle.
Breathtaking view, remnants of a  snowfall,
magical, enchanting, feast for the eyes!
Transparent icicles, dangle precariously,
soundlessly releasing droplets one by one, as a golden sun reigns above.
Tree branches bow towards the ground,
burdened with piles of white powder.
Silence enshrouds everything,
snowfall creating a natural buffer.
Earth sighs, full of contented pleasure,
relishing stillness prevalent throughout the land.

Nothing symbolizes beginnings better to me than this photograph of the morning sun rising, shining brightly to begin the day alongside the beginning end of a vibrant rainbow! This pairing together instills in one a sense of hope, of inspiration, the feeling that the world is yours for the taking to achieve your dreams and conquer all that stands in your way! Beginnings offer us a chance to begin anew, to right past wrongs, and strive for greatness.  Each day we have the opportunity to create a new beginning, a new vision for our lives, a chance to be the best we can be.  This occurs every time the sun rises welcoming a new day.  Our chances to create a new beginning are endless since each sunrise is a blank canvas for us to create magnificent moments upon.

Hello Fellow Bloggers! 🙂

Happy 2014! I hope your new year has started off well and continues to be filled with wonderful moments!  Since I started the Zero to Hero Challenge with WordPress to create/improve blogs the first day challenge was to introduce myself, but since this blog has been established for awhile I decided to do more of an update.  The past few months leading up to 2014 have been very busy and exciting for me! I am still CEO of Rainbows of Happiness LLC where I write poetry, short stories, children’s literature, fiction, nonfiction, and self-help books, I recently became owner/moderator for the photography community Magnificent Moments Captured Through Film on Google+, was chosen as featured poet for the featured 4 section of MUTT Online by their staff, was selected to have my authored story Always In My Heart in the featured showcase gallery on awritersgallery.wordpress.com, have become a regular contributor for Smile magazine creating their cover story and articles, poetry contributor for The East Coast Literary Review Spring 2014 edition, Winter Solstice Initiative publication, and had three poems published on poetreecreations.org.  I now self-host 4 blogs on various social media platforms (3 on writing, 1 on photography), have created articles on various topics including fashion, photography, education, travel, health, home decor, exercise, skin care, jewelry, and shoes which were formatted and used on websites, blogs, magazines, and ezines.  My followers for this blog are just shy of 1,000 members, and I have formed connections with 1300+ people in the writing industry through LinkedIn! I can’t believe how much things have changed since starting out in Aug!  I have been highlighted as an aspiring author for Idea Creations Press and have an upcoming interview with Book Shelf in Feb 2014.  I received my official copyright certificate from the US Copyright Office and so this year plan to begin publishing my self-help books, and poetry compilations I had been waiting for to receive their copyright clearance.  I also have in the works two completed children’s books for my children’s literature series which I drew the initial character concepts for and am currently working on a book about positive classroom management techniques as well as another self-help book.  I continue to hone my photography skills daily, managing to capture some amazing scenic photographs.  I have become a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Fiction Writers Guild, Poets and Writers Association, Elance Network, Creative Writers Association, Google+ Small Business Owners, Yahoo Small Business Owners, Twitter, Rebel Mouse, Writer’s Beat, MUTT Online, Facebook for Businesses, Blogger, Skyword, Headliner, and Tumblr.  I participate in the weekly photo challenge on Daily Post, and the writing prompts as well, and did NaBloPoMo in November.  Whew! It’s been a busy couple of months! 🙂

This weeks theme of one is fabulous! I had such a hard time deciding which photograph would best depict the theme one for me.  I wanted my submission to stand out and be symbolic since the term one symbolizes individuality, strength, and independence.  Finally I settled on this photograph.

image

One Nation United!

I feel nothing symbolizes the theme of one like our flag.  I noticed it waving proudly from atop a building from my hotel room in New Orleans.  The flag of our country is the one symbol known far and wide to all Americans.  Steadfast, strong, an unwavering sign of our one nation united!

Then I had to add a few additional photographs that met the theme of one, couldn’t help it!
First I adored this curly tailed lizard seen in Grand Cayman.  He wandered amongst the tourists, fearless content to be on his own!
image

Then this single bluebird appearing in my bushes exibited the singular theme so completely, he had to be included.
image

The theme of one couldn’t be complete without a photograph of my favorite cat! He’s an entity all his own!

image

A single, bright, yellow buttercup growing amongst weeds under a bush made my cut as well.
image

This post on the theme of one, had to display my favorite natural phenomena by Mother Nature.  A vibrant rainbow cascading through the sky!  While some rainbows appear as double rainbows, this capture is of a single one slicing color through the fluffy clouds! Pure singular magnificence!

image

Finally, keeping with the season, this snow-covered tree standing resolute, alone on my front lawn, branches straining under the weight of snow and ice rounded out my contributions to the weekly photo challenge-one!
image

Enjoy my interpretations of one! Happy Holidays everyone!

What can I say I love this week’s photography challenge of community!  Here are a few more additions of communities both small and large.

image

The most common community type seen lately, birds in v-formation heading South as a community.

image

A community of teapots each symbolizing different places and moments in my mom’s life.

image

My favorite community formation! A community of various teacups owned by my mother.  Some dating back to before I was born!  This shadow box housing the community of teacups has been hanging here for as long as I can remember.  Each teacup in this community tells a story about a time or event in my mom’s life.  This teacup community is a compilation of her life’s experiences.

image

Another well-known type of community, a community of various fish!  Fish don’t segregate one another based on type or size.  They’re content to exist together in a makeshift community regardless of color, shape, or variety.  They form a true melting pot of a community!

Lizard Community!!

A community can be a small or large gathering.  Here three lizards gather together on a wall to sun themselves and pose to the delight of the tourists.  They create a small, impromptu community within their small group!
