Rainbows Everywhere!!

image

My object I fondly refer to as my rainbow maker!  My best friend gave it to me this past Christmas since she knew of my love for rainbows!  The object pictured contains a mini solar panel on top, which when powered by sunlight causes the colorful gears in the circle to move.  The moving gears cause the dangling crystal to rotatate, resulting in rainbows being visible throughout the whole room!  I was skeptical if it would really work when I first hung it in my bedroom window, but the next morning I awoke to a room bathed in rainbows! It was so pleasant to wake up like this, everyone who loves rainbows should have a rainbow maker of their own to enjoy those seven fabulous colors seen when a rainbow appears!  Something about the sight of a mini rainbow in my room just fills me with joy, making the day ahead seem full of endless possibilities to achieve!

My BFF For Life!

I am a firm believe that we don’t just encounter people in our life randomly, they are sent to us for a purpose. This is truly the case for my best friend Jaime and myself. We met on the first day of kindergarten when we were five years old, and have been inseparable ever since! (I won’t say how long we’ve been BFF’s to protect our ageless beauty ;), but trust me its been awhile!) She is the most generous, loving, giving, person I have ever met! She doesn’t think twice about helping out another person and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it! Over the years, our friendship has grown and blossomed making her feel more like the sister I never had, as opposed to just a friend. We have been there for each other for the good times and bad. Weddings, funerals, birthdays, holidays, you name it! The support she has shown me over the years only continues to grow. Even though we live in different states, whenever we get together, we pick up right where we left off! I feel she epitomizes the qualities of a true friend, someone who isn’t there only for the good moments in life, but for the not so good ones too! We have seen each other at our worst times and she always knows just what to say to make me feel better. I hope I do the same for her as well! She has a heart of gold, and this can be seen in how she treats her students and her pets, as well as in her treatment of other individuals. Though we have been friends for many many years, we have never once been in a fight! Honestly! We just have fun together and are there cheering each other on through life’s little and big achievements! I love her like a sister and she is truly the best friend a girl could ask for! She’s a lover of rainbows, dragonflies, and butterflies just like me. She is a dreamer, creative (you should see her paint Tweety Bird on her own nails!), and I don’t think I could ever say enough to describe the truly magnificent individual that she embodies! If you have a friend that you can always count on, that supports you, and accepts you for the person you are no matter what happens in life, treasure that person and that friendship. This is a unique, wonderful gift to find in life. If you are able to have one true, honest to goodness friend in life, never take that or them for granted! I was given a great gift the day I met my BFF, my sister for life, and I am so thankful to have her in my life!

Juxtaposition is the depiction of two objects that seem completely out of place when placed side by side.  Here I chose this photograph of a freely growing amongst the weeds and dead leaves of late fall.  It offers a spot of hope of brightness in an otherwise muted landscape devoid of color.  A special symbol of inspiration for a world in need of something to cling to as a sign that things will get better. That’s the interpretation I get from this photograph.  What do you think the buttercup depicts here?

The first flakes of snow always bring to mind a sense of hope, happiness, and anticipation for what’s to come.  Will those crystallized flakes amount to anything?  Will they be the sole members of a requited blanket of white,  making not enough of an impact to affect your daily routine? Or maybe they are the beginning of what will be a magnificent winterscape! Below details the rapid accumulation of snowflakes experienced today in my neck of the woods.

image

A few sparse flakes are visible.

A few sparse flakes float through the sky.

image

The amount of snowflakes greatly increases within seconds!

image

The ground starts to become blanketed with a light dusting.

image

Continuous snowfall quickly accumulates, covering the ground with several inches.

image

Several inches of snow have gathered blanketing the ground in white beauty!

Do you have a wonderful photograph of today’s snowstorm? Please share it with our community of followers! Send a link to your post to this site to share beautiful winter wonderland photography and be sure to stay warm and cozy today! 🙂

Lunch time again. Staring absent mindedly at the contents filling the refrigerator, my mind isn’t on food.  My mind is whirling like a hamster running on its wheel, thoughts churning at an intense speed.  I finally decide on having a lite lunch of cheese, crackers, and almonds, rationalizing that the almonds are protein and will supply me with needed energy.  I carry my meager choices to the kitchen table, but quickly forget them, as I am distracted by the beautiful glowing ball of sunlight that is glaring through the windows directly in my line of vision.  Deciding this opportunity is too perfect to ignore, I grab my camera and a handful of almonds and head outside to capture the sun in all its brilliant glory. Seeing the radiance emitted by the sun, I become inspired to create a poem about its magnificence, and dart inside to retrieve my notebook and pencil.  I get wrapped up in writing my ode to the sun and suddenly the sky alights with glorious colors as the sun slowly sinks into the horizon.  Once again I grab my camera and venture outside to capture the natural beauty of Mother Nature. Upon entering the house after another successful photo session I glance the time on the clock near the door, 5:00 PM!  Where did the day go? I sigh and begin making preparations for dinner.

Families can mean different things to each person.  Some people come from small families, while other people have families comprising large groups of people.  Then there are friends who have always been in your life and would give you the shirt off their backs.  They grow so close to you, you couldn’t imagine life without them.  These are your adopted family members that while not blood, are family nonetheless!
We tend to immediately picture people when we hear the word family, but animals also have their own sense of family.  Here in the picture above I was lucky to capture a family of six deer coming out of the forest to search for food together as the sun was setting.  The larger deer protected the smaller deer by keeping them in the middle of their line, just as parents protect their children.  The larger deer also kept a watchful eye for signs of danger as their young ate.  It was amazing to witness the similarities between how the mother and father deer cared for their young,  compared to how a human mother and father care for their children.  It was a truly beautiful experience!

Me in a Nutshell

Always prepared with a smile to share,
inspiring others to forget their troubles.
Positive straight to the core, radiating brightness from deep within,
spreading joy, encircling others nearby in an invisible hug of gladness.
Optimistic reputation, initiated at birth,
exuberant, enthusiastic, primed to take on the world!
Believer in following ones heart’s desires,
chasing dreams until they’re realities!
Seeing life as moments to be treasured,
each friendship, creating a chapter to be unfolded.
Unknown future, slowly taking form,  blossoming under the sun’s radiance.
Sea of positivity, rolling carelessly,
ebbing, flowing with the universe’s natural revolutions.
Admiring nature’s artwork, displayed in the everyday,
happily sighing, thankful to be alive!

…..nothing!  No blue line was visible in the tiny result window, waiting triumphantly to make her heart soar, to fill her with euphoric happiness.  With a sinking heart, she laid her head on the cold, cool sink counter.  She had been  sure this time she would see that evasive blue line appear, but again its lack of appearance taunted her! Turning her head forlornly towards the test stick laying still beside her, she angrily picked it up to hurl it into the trashcan.  Eager to be rid of the evidence of yet another failed attempt.  As her hand  reached for the mocking, reminder of her inability to achieve a positive result, she gasped in shock!  There before her strikingly bright, clear as the blue sky itself, shown a bold, discernible, solid, blue line!  It had been only seconds since checking the test, which had caused her such heartache, yet there was the result she had yearned to see for years! An honest to goodness  positive result!
     Tears of joy sprang from her eyes catching her unaware.  Her hands shook, as she cautiously carried her miraculous outcome, gripped gingerly in her hand, to show her husband. Walking slowly, feeling with every step she took, the line might disappear at any moment.  In complete disbelief that  this was really happening.  With sweaty, quivering hands she handed the precious test stick to her husband.  Barely capable of speech, she was only able to utter four words to him;
     “I think I’m pregnant!”
Spent with emotional exhaustion, she collapsed into his arms, engulfed by his embrace, dissolving into sobs of joy.  Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, shock over finally registering a positive result, planning how she’d share their news, dreaming of future holidays together, names for their baby, among various other idealistic thoughts experienced by a first-time mother. Her heart was light, she felt as if she was walking on air!
The next 18 weeks flew by quickly.  She documented each week with photographs, she and her husband took a last vacation, a babymoon, if you will, to enjoy their last summer before the baby arrived.  She went a bit overboard in the baby shopping department, buying anything and everything for their future bundle of joy.  She experienced the joy of seeing her baby wiggling around inside of her on ultrasounds, and heard its heartbeat strong, and true for the first time.  She was in a wonderful bubble of euphoria, eventually sharing at 13 weeks, their happy news with anyone and everyone!
Then the unthinkable happened at 18 1/2 weeks.  There was blood, and she knew what that meant.  A trip to the hospital confirmed her suspicions, her baby had stopped growing.  Her weeks of happiness, the future she had planned for her child was ended, all in a matter of seconds.  She felt robbed of her child, of her dreams for it.
Days turned to weeks, a hollow emptiness consumed her, where her baby had once been.  Once happy and complete, she now felt lost, bereft of feeling.  Seeking comfort through her writing, she wrote her thoughts and feelings about her lost child.  This allowed her to find momentary reprieve from the sadness, her thoughts  transferred from her mind to the page.  Using writing as her security blanket to overcome this tragedy, slowly she began to heal.  She emerged a changed, person, but enduring an experience such as this changes anyone.  Through  her creative outlet of writing, she  further explored her other artistic gifts that had laid dormant through the years.  She left the world of professional workers focusing solely on her writing and photography, creating a writing company to commemorate her lost child, who through her death, helped her discover a new life!

She’s always been there for you since the moment you were born.  Growing up she was the one who kissed all your boo boos, placed special inspirational notes in your lunchbox, and made you feel like you were the world to her.  She attended special events throughout your life, was your biggest fan and source of encouragement as a child,  yet allowed you to experience all of  life’s offerings, and to learn from your mistakes.  She was there to inspire you to dream, to achieve,  to reach for that brass ring in life!  She offered comfort to your wounded young soul, when the world didn’t realize how unique and special you were.  Growing up, you wanted to be just like her, trying on her high heels, and acting grown up.  She was your idol at five years old.

In your teenage years your mom’s role became that of an advisor for your young, careless mind.  She gave advice on situations ranging from false friends, to mending broken hearts.  She had been there before and imparted her wisdom gained from experience to you.  She became a confidante, for a blossoming teenager, struggling to make sense of the world.  She supported your choices, allowing you to find your own path in life, celebrating your accomplishments, and offering you a shoulder to lean on when life took an unexpected turn.  She was front and center,  supporting your various interests, and usually driving you to lessons and practice since you didn’t drive until you were seventeen! 🙂  Her faith in you was unwavering, glowing with pride at the woman you were becoming.

Upon entering adulthood your mom took on yet another role, that of friend.  When something occurred in your life, good or bad, she was the first person you called.  Every joy, every setback, she took in never judging, only offering a kind ear to listen to your triumphs and troubles.  My mom, my friend, is still my hero as a grown woman because she has the ability to still make a grey sky seem blue.  She is able to right my world, when things seem bleakest, by uttering only a few worlds of encouragement.  While we are separated by miles now, when I pick up the phone to talk to her, I am transported back beside her again.  Distance doesn’t  dull the connection we have, nor does time apart change how I feel about our relationship!  No matter what happens in my life, I know I can always count on her support, love, and guidance to see me through whatever life throws at me!    Looking back on my life, I see how much my mother influenced the person I have become today.  Because of her quiet caring, and ability to let me become the person I was meant to be,  my life has been my own.  The ultimate act of love between a mother and her child is to teach them enough so that they may fly off one day on their own, caring with them the love and lessons imparted to them by their mom.  My mom has taught me a lot about life, people, and the world, someday I hope to impart her teachings to future generations!  Until then I know she will be here for me when needed, which is why my mom is still my hero today!

Thank you for all your guidance and love mom!:)

When you’re five years old, he’s the man who checks for monsters under your bed, makes you smile when you skin your knee, and would give you the world if he could!  You’re his little princess, the person for whom he’d move Heaven and Earth to keep safe.  He’s your father, your hero, the first man you’ll ever love, all embodied in one.  A man who would never break your heart, but will return the love you shower upon him twofold.

Through the years as you grow up, he’ ll be your biggest cheerleader, attending all your sporting events, ballet recitals, and school plays.  For him, work comes second, family is his priority. He realizes life moves quickly, placing importance on enjoying the little things, those once in a lifetime moments, with the ones you love most.
He serves as your rock growing up, applauding your successes, comforting you during trying times. As you enter  adulthood, knowledge dawns, making you realize how much your dad sacrificed, in order to create a wonderful, memorable childhood for you and your siblings.  Your admiration for your hero deepens, and you begin to see him through a new perspective.  You start to observe the similarities between the two of you, adamantly feeling he can still do no wrong in your eyes, even as you grow up.

With the passage of years, you treasure the bond between father and daughter more intensely. Your relationship with your childhood hero, your dad, is seen as an unbreakable connection untainted by the passage of time.  This beautiful connection is one that cannot be experienced with any other person you encounter. In your eyes he will forever be your superman, your father, the first man to ever hold you in his arms, and forever your hero!

Thank you for always being there for me dad! 🙂
