Sweet Dreams of Days Gone By

Dream Visions

     Nighttime arrives, shadows begin to lengthen,
sweet slumber will soon overwhelm my being.
     Tiny twinkling glimmers appear in an indigo sky,
moonlight glistens, creating a veil of translucency over Earth.
     Laying with head cradled in a billowing pillow of softness,
thoughts drift to a land inhabited by sweet dreams.
     Visions swirl splendidly throughout my head,
as deeper into unconsciousness I fall.
     Dreams filled with memories of times past,
blurry images, changing rapidly within seconds.
     Pictures flash by, like a movie set to fast forward,
glimpses of life, not played out in entirety.
     They gain in momentum, intensity, appearance,
gasping from the flood of images, I awake.
     Sunlight streams in through slated blinds,
blinking from shimmering trajectories, I rise.

Rainbow Visions

A good friend of mine who knows my penchant for loving rainbows sent me this fabulous shot of a rainbow clearly viewed through the fountain.  I love it and I really love the magical appearance of rainbows at the most unexpected times!  This week on on my site on Google+ called Weekly Wed Photo Word Association Challenge the theme happens to be rainbows so I thought this was the perfect post to share! The formation of those seven bright colors just brings happiness to my heart! One of my favorite songs about rainbows is Rainbow Connection.  The first line says “why are there so many songs about rainbows?”  So this got me to thinking of other songs about rainbows whether in the title or in the song itself.  I started to make a list but didn’t get too far so now I ask you fellow bloggers can you add to my list of rainbow songs?

Weekly Photo Challenge Three

A post challenge of three!  I had to share these beautifully designed cupcakes I was lucky enough to eat at a bridal shower this past weekend! They are arranged on a “three” tiered mirrored tray to enhance their appeal!  They were quite delicious each one artfully decorated with care!  A true trifecta of decadence!

Weekly Photo Challenge Treasure

My Heart, My Love, My Treasure!
Throughout my life I’ve been lucky to have many things that I once only dreamed of possessing!  But the treasure of my life is my husband! Quietly caring in his mannerisms, he would do anything for me.  When I feel down he will do silly things, just to make a smile cross my lips.  He knows me better than I know myself at times!  He knows what music makes me want to dance, what my favorite type of chocolate is and when I really could use some of it to make me feel happy.  Some days he comes home after a long day of working hard at his job, with a bouquet of flowers for no reason, a blu-ray dvd of a movie he knows I love, or some other surprise to make my eyes light up with happiness!  He does so many things to make me happy that I couldn’t begin to list them all here.  I truly treasure his love, and know I could never find anyone who would try half as hard to bring me the joy that he does!  He is what I treasure most in my life.  When we are apart I wait with bated breath for him to return home each day.  He has changed my life for the better and understands me unlike any other person I know.  I am so grateful to have met him and to have been lucky enough to have him return my love!  I treasure every moment with my husband, and am profoundly grateful that destiny brought him to me!

Daily Prompt Legacy

Legacy of a Lifetime
     My dears, days of sunrises draw to an end,
before breath fails me, there’s a message I must send.
     On these precious pages, exist tales you need to know,
stories recounting accomplishments, highs and lows.
     Lessons learned, mistakes made,
please listen closely, time will too soon fade.
     Read this retelling, take what it says to heart,
grant this final request, before our lives must part.
     Share the words imparted, with both young and old,
they must remember who I was, my story needs to be told!
    Dreams, hopes, wishes, discovered upon these pages,
my greatest writing masterpiece, shared repeatedly throughout the ages!
     When from this Earth I become, a mere memory,
this book will remain behind, as my lifetime legacy!

*The Daily Post prompt was to share what you would leave as your legacy.  I feel the reason I became a writer was so my legacy to future generations would be a lifetime of learning to love literature and to hopefully inspire many others to become writers and find a love for the written word as well.  This prompt really makes one think.  What would your legacy to future generations be?

Stars Shining Bright Above You

Starshine

How many of you recognize my title from the song Dream a Little Dream?  I found it to be very fitting for my post today!  Last night the sky was so clear that stars could be seen everywhere you looked! I find watching stars slowly intensify with glowing glory, as the
night sky darkens is magical! Sometimes one is lucky enough to capture some clustered stars forming constellations.  The fact that stars can be so tightly knit together to form the outline of a shape amazes me! 

Secrets in the Stars
     Each twinkling star contains a story,
one it desires to impart to the world.
     Existing silently in the night sky above, 
perched for generations, carefully categorizing stories on the world below.
     Listen closely on clear nights, when the darkest hours approach,
wind whips through hair, whispering amazing tales through blustery currents.
     Timeless tales of wonder, viewed advantageously miles above Earth,
sounding faintly like strains of songs once familiar.
     If you remain immobile under the blanket of night, ears alert,
whispers of words may intensify in volume.
     Yes, stars hold mysteries shared with a select few,
are you open to receive their breathy whispers?

Valentine’s Day Deer, Doe, and More!

First and foremost a very Happy Valentine’s Day to all! I hope you’re enjoying it with the one or one you love most! 🙂  This deer and doe certainly are! 🙂 

Valentine’s day isn’t just for couples of the human race, animals express their passion for one another in their own manner.  For instance animals are protective of their loved ones (much like us humans).  They look out for each other when foraging for food (like the deer corn I have to put out twice a day due to this frigid weather!) to make sure their loved ones get the nutrition they need to survive.  Now if that’s not love I don’t know what is!  My problem is that their families are huge!  The crows around here show their love for each other by telling the first, second, third, and fourth cousins to come get food in my backyard! I’m running through my deer corn faster and faster in this weather! Someone has to help them out though with all the snow though! 🙂

Then of course there is the protective comraderie between the teeny tiny birds and what I call the “momma bird” who makes sure the birds of smaller statue get food and maintain a watchful eye over the scene.  This is a type of love formed through friendship and probably the most interesting type of relationship in the animal kingdom for me!

Weekly Photo Challenge Selfie!

Well sorry to be off the wordpress grid lately! I promise to make it up to my followers with some amazing photography captures within the next few days! 🙂 The weekly photo challenge was to do a selfie! I think back to a year ago or so when no one had even heard of the term “selfie”, but we allknow at one point or another in our lives we’ve turned the camera on ourselves! Now it just has a name for that action so we can feel justified in photographing ourselves freely! 🙂  So without further ado here’s the selfie I managed to pull off! Please be kind! 🙂

Phoneography Monday Challenge Nature

One of my favorite things to photograph in nature is the sun.  The sun’s trajectories can be magnificent to capture especially when they have rainbows entwined throughout them!  The sun is a mystery of nature, appearing large and radiant at times, hiding within the clouds exuding color into the cloud cover at other times.  No matter how it appears through the lens, it is always magnificent!

Another thing I enjoy photographing in nature is the migration of birds overhead.  I was especially lucky to be outside when the air was blanketed with blackbirds!

Finally, my favorite thing to photograph in nature due to the amazing natural colors it creates is the sky, especially at sunset! Captures of the sky through the lens are a magnificent sight!

So there are some lovely nature photography captures for you all to peruse! Remember beauty is all around us, we just have to keep our eyes open to it!  Have a wonderful day! 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge-Object

Rainbows Everywhere!!

My object I fondly refer to as my rainbow maker!  My best friend gave it to me this past Christmas since she knew of my love for rainbows!  The object pictured contains a mini solar panel on top, which when powered by sunlight causes the colorful gears in the circle to move.  The moving gears cause the dangling crystal to rotatate, resulting in rainbows being visible throughout the whole room!  I was skeptical if it would really work when I first hung it in my bedroom window, but the next morning I awoke to a room bathed in rainbows! It was so pleasant to wake up like this, everyone who loves rainbows should have a rainbow maker of their own to enjoy those seven fabulous colors seen when a rainbow appears!  Something about the sight of a mini rainbow in my room just fills me with joy, making the day ahead seem full of endless possibilities to achieve!
